Five great ways to save money shopping this holiday season
1. Take advantage of one or two day sales- With the economy in such bad shape, many stores are having numerous one or two day sales, generally on the weekend, to get rid of their excess inventory. While this isn't a good thing for the store, it is a good thing for the wise shopper. Watch the advertisements that come with the daily and Sunday newspaper and see when certain stores are having special door buster or one day sales and take advantage of them.
2. Get coupon codes for on line shopping- When shopping on line, there are quite a few different stores that offer special promotional codes. It is in your best interest to go to a site like currentcodes.com and search for current coupon deals before submitting that order on line. Many of the special codes offer either a certain percentage off your total order or free shipping.
3. Price comparison shop- I think this should be done the entire year round, but it is especially important now. Whether you are shopping on the Internet or in the store, you should first compare prices at several similar stores before deciding where to purchase the item. This is especially true with bigger items. For example, store A may have the television you want for $599 and store B might be $499. If you don't price compare you might miss out on that savings of $100.
4. Use deal sites- Use on line deal sites like gottadeal.com to find information on the newest special deals. The great thing about a site like gottadeal is that they have a vibrant forum of users who help spot the best deals, both on line and offline and share those deals with visitors. This is a great and quick way to find special deals.
5. Save on transportation costs- This can apply to on line shopping or in store shopping. For on line shoppers, do everything you can to earn free shipping on your products. Many on line stores are offering free shipping once a certain amount, such as $50 is purchased. For in store shopping, save on transportation costs by purchasing as many of the things that you need at one store rather than having to drive around looking all over the place. Gas prices have come down, but it is still too expensive to simply drive aimlessly.
The holiday shopping season is underway, make sure you use these five tips to save you and your loved ones some much need money this year!
