Five Ways to Tastefully Conceal the Garbage Container in Your Kitchen

Rose Alexis
A garbage container in the kitchen is essential. In terms of decoration, however, even the most stylish of garbage cans still looks like a garbage can. You can use one of the following ideas for concealing your waste holder, or you can use the list to help inspire ideas of your own.

One: Hanging door garbage can. If you have a lower level cabinet with a swinging door, then you have the option of purchasing a hanging garbage can. These are attached to the inside of the cabinet door and they come either with or without a lid. You can find them in many places, but I have added a link for you to see what the item can look like.

Two: Under cabinet pullout garbage bins are great for concealing trash containers as well. On the face they look like any other cabinet in your kitchen. You can, however, slide the door out and voila, you have a garbage can. These come in traditional kitchen size containers, either with or without a lid. You also have the choice of choosing a tri-container set that organizes recyclables and keeps garbage in a space of its own. For those of you who have a lot of garbage, you can purchase multiple containers storage that fits on the pull out rack.

Three: Go for Style. You can opt for a wooden garbage can that looks like a piece of cabinetry, a traditional wood box, or even painted wood. The great thing about them is they come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and styles, so finding one to fit into any décor should come quite easily. They are stylish and functional, keeping garbage at your fingertips, but out of the way of being an eyesore.

Four: Mobile Kitchen Center. These are freestanding pieces of furniture that are functional, attractive, and serve to conceal your garbage in a tilt-out receptacle holder. You can use the top for a cutting board, utensil storage, a place to put cookbooks, or to present your favorite knick-knacks or photographs, etc. Or you can just leave the top clear to allow for ease of functional use.

Five: Rattan or wicker covers can nicely conceal your garbage can and they come in a variety of colors, hues and shapes and styles. These are really neat if you have a casual look to your room.

These five solutions are all easy, affordable and stylish ways to conceal the garbage container you store in your kitchen.
