Marli
Just because the cold fronts of fall and winter have arrived and the shining rays of summer have gone into hibernation doesn't mean you have to hibernate as well. There are still many hobbies that will keep you active and entertained that don't require ample sunlight and bright blue skies. You can still have fun when it's cold whether you want to work out, stay inside, go outdoors, or stimulate your mind.

Working Out

Exercise during the winter can be a bit of a challenge. Sometimes it's just too cold to run outdoors, but with a little thought, you can find other ways to keep your body fit and in shape. If you want to stay inside try doing yoga or pilates in the privacy of your own home. If you want to get more active you can venture outdoors and take part in a winter sport such as snowboarding or skiing. You just have to embrace the weather and work with it.

Staying In

If you want to stay in there are plenty of options that will keep you entertained. If you're looking to relax, try knitting. You can learn to knit in under an hour from your home with no experts needed! Simple buy your yarn and knitting needles and find an instructional video on YouTube or through a search engine. You can knit yourself a scarf to keep you cold when you go outdoors at little cost to you! You can also begin start watching genres of movies as a hobby. Movie genres like classic horror, french, independent, or sci-fi can be very fun to get into. If you want to do something more creative, have a painting session. This can be a great way to lose yourself in your hobby. If you dream of brighter days, paint a vivid, sunny picture.

Fun Outdoors

If you want to venture outdoors, try some winter photography. Nature takes on a whole new appearance during the winter and you can capture all this on film. You can start working on photography with a simple point-and-shoot camera then invest in Photoshop. If you're serious about your craft you can invest in a vintage film camera or a more expensive modern SLR.

Learning

It's always a good time to learn, including during the winter. You can buy Rosetta Stone and learn a language, take a class at a local college, or find free classes. The library is an excellent pool of information or asking a friend is always a good idea. Sometimes a friend will have a hobby that interests you and they'd be more than happy to teach you for free. You can learn anything from how to play an instrument to how to solve a Rubix cube.

Even though cold weather can sometimes get you down, there are always fun things to do. You just have to look around and be a little creative.
