Five WWE Superstars that Are Ready for Main Event Status

Why Won't Vince Push These Guys Already?

In the WWE, it is common knowledge that the same old superstars are usually in the spotlight. For the last several years, the main event has been all about Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena, Batista, Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker to name a few. There have been occasional surprise WWE Superstars in the main event picture such as CM Punk, Jeff Hardy and even Sheamus for a cup of coffee recently. Who is on the brink of taking over the permanent positions of main event headliners? Here are five guys that need WWE booking attention right now.

1. Sheamus

The WWE made a bold move in making Sheamus the WWE Champion so quickly in his career. The problem with that now is that they quickly took the belt off of him even before the big daddy main event of Wrestlemania. That was a huge lost opportunity to continue to build his star and having him lose to Triple H at Wrestlemania was a mistake too. That was the perfect chance to make him legitimate. Now he is going to have start all over again to not look like a one hit wonder.

2. Evan Bourne

This young high flyer has been used as primarily a jobber and it is a shame. It has been proven with Rey Mysterio that a small guy can main event and Bourne has that type of talent. It would be even better to see the WWE rebuild their cruiserweight division to give these guys a platform to work with. I can only imagine a feud between Rey and Evan.

3. Jack Swaggart

The All American American is on the cusp of greatness if the WWE plays their cards right. Having won the money in the bank match, he is about to be World Champion in the WWE. Though he has some serious mike issues, he can still be a top level heel if they would give him a manager. Let him wrestle and give him someone high profile to do all the talking. Swaggart can get under the fans skin quite well and he is ready with the right push.

4. John Morrison

Virtually everyone expected this to be the year that the WWE finally pushed John to the main event. Why they are not doing so is beyond me and most every wrestling fan. Could it be that there is some behind the scenes drama holding him back? He is over one hundred percent with the fans so what is the hold up? There is likely much more to this story than we are aware of.

5. Shelton Benjamin

Benjamin had a match with Shawn Michaels a couple years ago that was easily the greatest wrestling match I had ever seen. I have no clue how a man with such incredible athletic ability is not yet a main eventer. Given the right push, Shelton could be as popular as any WWE Superstar on the roster. Give him a makeover to be sure, but give the guy his due. He has incredible skill inside the ropes.

  • Shelton Benjamin should be a star already.
  • Evan Bourne could spearhead a new cruiserweight division.
  • Jack Swaggart is ready for the big stage as well.

Jack Swaggert is a moron with no honor. After what he did on smackdown Friday I wanted to kick his *ss. I'm not a fan of Jericho or Edge but the way Swaggert cashed in for Money in the Bank to make himself champion was dishonorable.
