Unfortunately I find myself having very little patience with my children. With all the stress I endure in a day from school and having my three children, my patience tends to be non-existent. Instead of listening to them, I sometimes tune them out or ask them to give me some peace and quiet. There shouldn't be anything more important in this world than listening to your own children. If you give them your time, you may learn things about them you've never known before.
2. To be more gentle with my words.
Instead of the usual "What do you want?!" that I often spat out, I'll try a much gentler approach. Maybe I'll answer with "Yes, dear?" instead. I find myself to be a little harsh at times. This also comes with having no patience.
3. To have more family movie nights.
My children love our family movie nights however, with my overwhelming class schedule and my husband working two jobs, we do this on very rare occasion. When we are able to all sit down and watch a movie, we have a fantastic time. We share popcorn, conversation, and laughs. It's one of my favorite things to do.
4. To show them more affection and give them more attention.
I show my children affection often yet I could always show them more. Children need lots of attention as well. I feel you can never really give them too much, especially when their still young. I need to pay a little more attention to them and a little less to the rest of the world.
5. To be less strict.
This specific New Year resolution will sure to be my children's favorite. I definitely need to "loosen up" a bit. I am what they call a "No Mommy" most of the time. I don't think it'll hurt to give them that extra piece of candy, a quarter for the bubble gum machine, or even an extra half an hour to stay up at night.
