There are many reasons why you are in your current predicament. These 3 reasons are the primary cause of your money problems:
Budget
You didn't believe in budgeting. You thought if you had money in your pocket, you could buy it. You may have even thought that plastic money was the same as cash.
Saving
Saving money was never one of your priorities. Rainy days and emergency funds were not important when money was available. Spend, spend, spend was the only thing that mattered.
Greed
A decision was made to live outside of your means. Material possessions and "Keeping up with the Jones" became your passion. If your friends drove a Cadillac, you needed to own a Mercedes. A nice home wasn't good enough for you. It had to be larger with more amenities than your friends. A home was purchased even when you knew you couldn't afford it.
Bottom line, when you had money, you didn't spend it wisely. Money mismanagement caused the problem. You never budgeted or attempted to save. Or, maybe you saved something, but it just wasn't enough.
The mindset of getting a job and keeping a job for 30 years is history. The idea of having a pension and being able to retire from a job is long gone for those working in Corporate America. Plans have to be made to live for today and for the future.
To fix your money problems, you have to change the way you think about money. You work hard for your money. Now, you have to make your money work hard for you. Money earning 3-4 percent interest is not working hard enough.
There is a stock for everyone. Stocks will give you the best return on your investment. Dividend stocks will create income and can pay you monthly if designed correctly. Layoffs, plant closings, and outsourcing will not adversely impact earnings ever again.
Companies that make a profit can decide to reinvest in other products to help their business grow or they can decide to give a percentage of their profits to their shareholders. Stocks that pay dividends are a great option because the company you're investing in is giving away profit. Finding a dividend paying stock isn't difficult. The newspaper identifies dividend paying stock as well as the internet .
Make stocks that pay dividends an investment choice. Income from dividends will fill any void whether it's in between jobs or stretching retirement savings. Create an income producing strategy other than a job and your money problems will be fixed.
