If you're really seriously about getting rid of split ends, you may want to consider stopping using thermal heating equipment for a while. Thermal heating equipment is meant to dry your hair like the hair dryer, curling iron, and straightening iron. Using this thermal heating equipment is like frying your hair to an even worse situation, and causing it to be even dryer. Make sure that you evenly distribute the heat, and don't just focus in on one area. Focusing in on one area can frizz up your hair, and make it more vulnerable to experiencing split-ends.
Long periods under the sun can also heat up your hair and cause it to dry up as well. If you happen to spend lots of time in the outdoors, make sure that you wear a hat in order to protect your hair, and try to spend some time in the shades.
Although you may be tempted to, don't brush your hair way too often, and especially not when it is wet. In fact, even running your fingers through your hair regularly can cause split-ends. Pick the right type of hair brush for you. If your brush happens to have a ball shaped end, make sure that the ball shaped end is connected to the bristle, and not just being stuck on. Bristles that have a ball stuck on them will actually damage your hair.
Conditioning is also a wonderful way of keeping your hair nice, and smooth. Giving your hair the needed supplies of vitamins, and nutrition will help prevent split ends. Condition your hair at least once every two to three days for best effects.
Some people are more prone to split-ends than others; thus, they need to take care of their hair even more. Split ends can be an uncommon feat for you as long as you take care of your hair every day. Check for split ends every month, and make a trim every now and then.
