Flat Broke

John Sumner

Tired of the beans, rice and the Ramen
Getting harder to eat, it's not uncommon
To see me over the sink, can in hand
Chef Boy-Ar-Dee cooking for me again

Reusing the paper towels, and the foil
Ziplocs don't zip, my lunch in butter bowls
Working to get ahead, only getting behind
If I could catch a break, I wouldn't mind
This life I live, this life I chose
Trying to earn a buck selling my prose Gotta work on my grammar, my choice of rhyme
Gotta work on spelling and how to submit on time
This is easy money, once I get the masses
To look, get paid, then maybe take some classes
