The Flat-headed Cat is much smaller than the average exotic cat out there; however, they are averagely sized when compared to domestic pet cats. These cats will usually grow to 20 inches in length, and weigh 15 pounds when they are mature with the males being slightly larger than the females. They have a nice reddish-color coat which at times may even turn into a dark brown color. They also have short legs, and small feet which are webbed giving them the adaptive ability to swim and fish.

The Flat-headed cat is generally found in China. In China, they are a threatened species of exotic cats because they have a small population number. Water population and deforestation makes their population suffer due to habitat loss, diseases, and loss of prey. It is important for us to learn more about them, and how to protect them in order to defend their population and see the numbers rise again.

Swimming gives them the ability to fish and hunt in the water. Because of this reason, their diet generally consists of small mammals, fishes and frogs. They also eat sweet potatoes and fruits.

The Flat-headed Cat can be an exotic pet cat. They are not too hard to maintain and care for as long as you understand their needs and how to train them. In short, research is essential in becoming a great owner. It is important to have an enclosure for them which include a water source, logs for climbing, and more. They should not be allowed to wander unattended, and owners should know the whereabouts of their cat at all times.

The Flat-headed cat will require a leash and collar for their walks. It is important to train them in being comfortable with these two equipments before they go out for their walks. Collars and leashes give you better control over them. It is also important to train them not to scratch furniture or claw and scratch people; good behavior is a must and bad behavior should not be tolerated. This is because when the cat becomes more mature, any behavioral problems will only worsen.
