It came to a head in 1969 when Flatt wanted to continue in a traditional bluegras vein, while Scruggs assembled a more progressive outfit, 'The Earl Scruggs Revue.
throughout the 70's both Flatt and Scruggs enjoyed in solo careers. Scruggs retired in the 80's in 1985 Flatt and Scruggs were inducted into the country music hall of fame,
Tom Thomas created an organization several years ago, having the greatest bluegrass group of all times, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys.
Flatt and Scruggs were professionals in their own right. since forming the preservation society, I have began a quest to see a museum established in their honor.
