Flavor Blasted Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers in the "Xtra Cheddar" flavor, come in a bright orange bag, The center of the bag appears to be exploding. Wedges of cheese and a school of cheese dusted little fish crackers are flying in every direction from the direction of the blast. Towards the top of the "explosion" is the Pepperidge Farm logo, a serene little country scene with a water mill, which is a strange little counter point to the bright cartoon-y package. Knowing these are made by Pepperidge farm is a selling point though, as they tend to make quality baked goods (love their cookies!) Underneath the bright orange and yellow " Flavor Blasted" logo a cartoon fish (who's name, we are told, is Xtreme) is grinning out at us: a cute little icon for a snack largely geared towards kids.
Flavor Blasted Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers in the "Xtra Cheddar" flavor earn their "extra" status. They are really smothered in cheese powder. I've always liked Goldfish crackers, but these are really punched up in the flavor department. They were also good in chicken noodle soup, though the flavor gets washed away in the broth so you would be just as well off with a less "Xtreme" cracker.
What you gain in flavor here doesn't translate too badly into calories or fat. For 140 calories and just 5 percent of your saturated fat for the day, you can have a serving of 51 crackers. (How they decided that 51 crackers make a serving is beyond me!) You get a bit of nutrition too: 3 percent of your daily recommended value of dietary fiber, 4 percent of your daily recommended value of calcium, and 6 percent of your daily recommended value of iron. Nothing tremendous, but not bad for a handful of fish!
The best thing about Flavor Blasted Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers in the "Xtra Cheddar" flavor, like all of Pepperidge farms Goldfish crackers, is the element of fun. I love the little smiley faces on each fish shaped cracker. These are a treat for kids of all ages and a lot better salty snack to indulge in than a bag of chips. I highly recommend Flavor Blasted Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers in the "Xtra Cheddar" flavor!
Enjoy!
