I've written extensively about how much of a cheap skate I am and how I am always looking to save a few bucks here and there. That's why I love places like Beacon's Closet and am always hitting up thrift stores and yard sales to find great deals and vintage clothing (to go with my old man demeanor).

So, I almost went through the roof when I heard about the Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Greene. Every Saturday from 10am-5pm, the Fort Greene Flea plays host to one of the most eclectic collections of vendors and items this bargain hunter has ever seen.

Just last Saturday I happened to stroll over to Lafayette Avenue and was subject to pretty much everything I could ever imagine.

This particular week there were countless vendors hawking vintage furniture, antiques, music and clothing to name a few. I was in search of a rare Silver Surfer comic that I didn't find, but I did end up with some great Silver Surfer prints that are hanging on my wall as we speak. I spotted an amazing old bamboo cutting board that I will definitely head back to get once my paycheck clears!

I was a bit overwhelmed by the selection (which is a good thing) and some of the items aren't cheap, especially by flea market standards. But the quality and selection of merchandise will blow your mind. I'd be surprised if you can't find that rare item that's eluded your grasp for so long.
