Flea markets and thrift stores are almost the same thing with a combination of new, used, and antique item possibilities. The main difference is ownership. Typically, thrift stores are affiliated with a church or some other nonprofit organization. Flea markets, most often, are made up of several individuals that rent booths from a store or property owner. The prime differences, in the customer's eyes, are some flea marketers will consider swapping merchandise for merchandise, or buying merchandise on the spot. The first town after leaving Jefferson County on US 78 is Sumiton, which is located in Walker County. 5 miles past Sumiton you will cross a long bridge.
