Fleecing the Universe: What to Do While You Are Waiting for Your Manifestation

Charlotte Babb
The Law of Attraction works after you ask for what you want, by feeling a desire for it, and then when you are aligned with it and thankful for it, it shows up. But not until then.

What can you do to minimize your doubts? Look for a sign. Tell the Universe what you want to see, and then be thankful every time you see it.

The Biblical story of Gideon, who was to become the leader of Israel, is that he tested God by putting out a fleece on the threshing floor, with the stipulation that if God wanted him to lead, the fleece would be wet with dew, and the rest of the floor dry. On the following night, he asked that the floor be wet and the fleece dry. When those conditions were met, Gideon knew that he did understand what he was to do, and that it was not his ego talking.

There are many kinds of signs that you could ask for. It seems best to me to ask for something silly, somewhat out of the ordinary, and not related to the issue at hand. For example, when I was concerned about getting enough financial aid to attend graduate school, I asked the universe to show me orange or copper colored cars. This was in 2005, and that was the most unusual color I could imagine. Even though I did not hear from the financial aid folks for several months, and I didn't have the actual cash in my account, I began to see orange cars, and copper-colored ones every day.

One day I saw large, bright orange tractor trailer, just as I was bemoaning my financial state, and I realized that the money was across the country, going to the school I where I was admitted. It was going where it needed to go. And I was able to get financial aid for all my tuition.

But I still need money to pay off my loans, now that I have my degree, and I am seeing more copper and orange cars everywhere. Every time I see one, I feel a sense of thanksgiving and a bit of a chuckle that people in my town went out and bought copper colored cars and trucks just so I could see them. The car manufacturers made them so I could see them. I know how silly this sounds, but it is the attitude of gratitude that makes it work. My friends all agree that they never see copper-colored cars unless they are riding with me. I can't imagine why that is!

I don't think it is as effective to ask for the exact thing as a sign. Once about thirty years ago, I asked for $25 for some project or item I wanted to buy. The next day, I found a check made out to cash for $25, lying in the parking lot next to my store. At first, I was very happy, but then I had this feeling of wrongness. Maybe I was afraid of the consequences of cashing the check, since I would have to show ID and sign it. The message was like "you can have what you ask for, but you won't like it." I mailed the check back to the person whose address was on the front, and felt much better.

So, ask for what you want, even if it is more than you can accept at the moment, and then play the game of thank you with the Universe. Pick out some insignificant event, something that is unusual enough to get your attention, and then express your thanks whenever it shows up. It means that what you asked for is coming.
