Flickering Flame Extinguished

Things that Remind Me of Past Lovers

Lucky M Diaz
The smell of a wet window pane,
as Summer rain cools the air.
The faint pre-Autumn fluttering of leaves,
caught on an August breeze.
Whistling lips-
pursed and parted,
perfectly pushing breath
into a musical duet with the radio.
Dead Park,
with fireflies and foreign exchange students.
Cameron Brown Park and the dock
where I childishly carved my pocket knife into it.
Certain couches-
usually stiffly covered by abrasive material,
but comfortably cushioned.
Motown music-
meant to incite fire in the blood
with dance movements:
simple, sexy swaying.
Magnolias trees in bloom-
sweetly scented and beckoning to be climbed.
Bradford Pear trees("cumtrees").
Guitar strings against my fingertips.
Rusty bedsprings.
A candle, recently extinguished and still smoking. . .
These are the things that remind me of them-
the Old Lovers that are preserved by my memories.

This was my favorite of yours, but I think the ending lines reveal too much. Leave it a bit more open for interpetation. Otherwise, very nice imagery, and a good soft, subtle rhythm.
