Flight

Saying Goodbye is Never Easy..

David Carr
They say that living on borrowed time
Really isn't livin' at all
And that dreams never really do come true

Well those folks might be right
But I consider them wrong
When I think of fleeting moments spent with you

Holding hands and mixtapes, never seem to go out of style
And a familiar tune
Tends to take my breath away

It's a song without a chorus
Or a proper middle eight
But it helps me find the words I need to say

As your plane takes flight, my thoughts get in the way
And I wonder about things that went wrong
It's only after you've left that I start to realize
The moments that we had still linger on

I'll put away the letters, the pictures that you sent
I'll file them all under "what could have been"

I'll remember things you told me, the way you touched my hand
And how all good things must come to an end

Please don't mistake my nervousness for weakness; oh no...
I'm a man in every sense of the word
I tried my best to show you, in the simplest of ways
And through my actions I hope my voice was heard

A smile hits my face, as a tear drop falls
A mix of emotion that doesn't seem quite right

But it makes sense in the moment
When it's all said and done
And I wave goodbye as your plane takes flight...
