Flight 3407 Departing Straight to the Heavens

Claire Luna-Pinsker
Fly Flight 3407 straight to the heavens

Let this flight be an easy one

Let their hearts be light, with their smiles so bright

No pain, no fear, just pure elation

Fifty people departed this earth in a flash

Fifty people will be missed today and forever

Fifty people have forever left their imprints behind on this earth

Fifty people's loved ones will grieve today and tomorrow.

No one knows where life's roads will lead us

No one knows why fifty were destined to take this flight

No one knows why time was halted in a second

As fifty on flight 3407 departed this earth.

Three pilots, crew members

A 9/11 widow, a cantor, a breast cancer survivor

Mangione's jazz musicians, a Vietnam vet,

Someone's mother, father, daughter and son

A genocide expert, a family, a student

A publisher, a fiancée, a writer,

A researcher, a teacher, a friend,

Someone's aunt, uncle, sister and brother

Forty-nine passengers and crew

With one innocent bystander along who was destined to leave.

Fifty lives and their curtailed life's stories

Will be shared and retold today and tomorrow

Flight 3407 is departing straight to the heavens

Fifty are flying in first class

Flight 3407 is heading straight to the heavens

Without pain, or fear, just pure elation

The End
