One of the most common myths about getting back in shape, is that you have to spend two hours in the gym every time you go. The truth is that it only takes about 30 to 45 minutes for the body to reach its peak level. So as long as you hit hard for 30 to 45 minutes you will see the results you've been working for little by little. Also, you don't have to go to five days a week. That's for the more experienced person. Eventually you do want to get to that level, but if you only go three days a week, you'll be fine. Maybe you don't have time to do more than three days a week and that's fine also. Keep it simple so you don't get discouraged, but don't take it easy on yourself either.
One of the best things to do when working out is to workout with a partner. Working out with a partner will help you go that extra mile and do that extra rep. This is important because when we workout alone we tend to give up faster. When we workout with a partner, we have someone there to push us when we don't feel like we can keep going which is when your workouts are actually making a difference. If for any reason you can't find a partner to workout with you, let your mind to be a partner, and push, push, push!
Don't spend your entire 45 minutes on the treadmill. Switch it up. Unless you are already in shape you need to confuse the body to get it in shape. Cardio is a must, but there are many other cardiovascular activities you can participate in. The elliptical is one, the stairs are another, and jumping rope is another. Playing a sport is another way to get your cardio workout in and have a little fun while you're doing it. Do not limit yourself. Limiting your workouts means limiting your results.
There all kinds of different approaches, avenues, and advice I can suggest to you about how to get yourself in shape. One thing that is very important and you should always remember, is to keep it simple. Complicating things will only cause you to want to quit. So no matter what approach you choose to take, do whatever you have to do to stay persistence. And when it comes to seeing physical results have some patience. You will get there.
