Show Confidence. Even if you do not feel particularly confident, you should pretend to be so. This does not mean that you act arrogant. Rather, it means that you take the time to dress in such a way that helps you feel attractive, and also it means that you like your personality and are willing to let it show. Confidence in who you are attracts others with similar personalities. And, if you can continue to enjoy yourself despite an occasional brush-off, it shows that you are not going to take flirting too seriously. And that can attract someone else.
Be Polite. Politeness always pays off. Even if you are not interested in someone who approaches you, it can be fun to flirt for a few minutes. Plus, you can use the time to showcase your desirability to others. After a few minutes, before things get beyond pleasant and playful banalities, let your flirting partner know that you took pleasure in the conversation and maybe even let your partner know of a friend that would suit him or her better. If you do not want to take few minutes to flirt with someone you are not interested, be gentle as you dismiss him or her. Others may be watching, and rudeness can damage your chances with another person.
Friendly Help. Rather than try to find a possible target on your own, use your friends. Walk down the room, getting drinks or visiting the bathroom. Have your friend watch for who looks interested as you walk by. When you get back, have the friend point out possible flirting partners. You will be more successful if you choose someone who is more likely to respond favorably. Naturally, you will have to perform the same service for your friend.
Eye Contact. Most connections are made through the eyes. You can invite a flirting partner by making eye contact three or four times in a 10 minute period. Try to make your looks "come hither" and inviting. If your subject is interested, he or she will take the bait and come over. If after 15 minutes you have had no success, pick a new target. Once you are flirting, make sure that you make frequent eye contact and use your eyes to give added meaning to the conversation.
Flesh Out the Experience. Show off the sexy parts of your body. The neck and the arch of the foot are both areas of the body that are associated with sexiness. If you are uncomfortable with showing midriff and cleavage that's not a problem. Tilt your head a little, flip your hair, or look back over your shoulder. Any of these actions can make you look more inviting. Just make sure you are wearing a top that leave your neck bare, adding the look of length. Letting your shoe dangle off your toe is a great way to shoe the arch of your foot. Look at your flirting target with your shoe precariously placed, and you'll be sending the right message.
All of these tips can help you make your flirting more successful. You'll have more fun when out on the town, and you will meet more people and enjoy the experience much more.
