Flooded Basement

Troubling atmosphere,

Storms begin to rumble.

Streaks of light open up the heavens.

Torrents of rain flood the streets.

The winds howl and scream.

Cries of fear.

Cries of despair.

A girl hugs her mother tightly.

And then silence.

No lights.

No electricity.

Just darkness,

Relentless darkness,

Quiet!

CRASH! BOOM! BANG!

Power restored.

Hooray!

Until....the basement.

Row, row, row your boat,

Gently down the flooded basement.

GROAN!

Misery in a room full of dampened boxes.

So sad!

Flooded memories come to pass;

To be hauled away to the nearest dumpster.
