Floral Party Centerpiece Craft Project

Homemade centerpieces can be fun to make and help you lower expenses when planning parties for special occasions. Here is a party centerpiece craft project that turns recycled glass bottles into flower vases. These centerpieces can be used as party decorations or to brighten up your home or workplaces without the need for ongoing maintenance.

Main materials needed to make a floral party centerpiece:

1 16oz. Glass bottle
3 Green drinking straws
1 Cup of chocolate chips
3 Sheets of multicolored 8 by 11 inch construction paper
1 Color broad tip marker
1 Bottle of school glue
1 Pencil
1 Pair of scissors

Draw a line down the middle of your multicolored construction paper sheets using a pencil. Draw the shape of one selected flower such as a rose, carnation, tulip or sunflower on one half of a sheet of colored construction paper. Cut the flower shape out and trace it on the remaining half of the construction paper. Cut the second shape out as well to end up with two identical flowers. Repeat this flower tracing process on the two remaining sheets of colored construction paper.

You should have six identical flower shapes once the tracing step is completed. Flower stencils can be used if you want more detailed or precise shapes. Draw and trace a different pair of flowers on each sheet if you desire to create a bouquet mixture for this party centerpiece craft project. Remove all visible product labels from the glass bottle and then clean it with mild soap and water, if necessary. Fill this bottle with chocolate chips and set it aside.

Decorate one of your flower shapes using glitter, tempera paint or crayons. Write the name of one of your party guests on the matching flower shape using a broad tip marker. Repeat this decoration and titling process with the two remaining pairs in your floral arrangement. Attach one decorated flower shape to the top of all three a green drinking straws using school glue. Attach the flower shapes with guest names to the opposite side of their decorated counterparts near the top of the straw.

The finished item should display a decoration on one side and the guest name on the back, concealing the top of your straws altogether. Place your flower straws inside the glass bottle after the glue dries. Arrange the flowers as needed and place the entire party centerpiece craft on a table.
