Florence Henderson of 'The Brady Bunch' Fame Tells All in New Book

Abby Greenhill

Florence Henderson, 77, who played Carol Brady on "The Brady Bunch" is telling it all in her soon to be released memoirs. It seems that Florence got a little bored with marriage in the 1960's and had a one-night fling. She didn't fling with just anyone, but with her friend, then mayor of New York City, John Lindsay. First off, it is hard to picture squeaky clean "Carol Brady" having an affair with anyone. Carol didn't, but Florence did.

Ok, so what a shock, a politician cheating on his wife with another woman? That's not the shocker. Poor Florence, for her poor judgment in sleeping with Lindsay she got a big surprise, crabs, also known as pubic lice. Gee, that must have been a shocker. It seems that Mr. Lindsay, the Mayor, must have been running around with lots of other women during his time in office. Lindsay died in 2000. Lindsay, in 1972, gave a half-hearted attempt at a run for the presidency. His wife must have been a 'stand-by-your-man' kind of gal, as their marriage lasted 51 years.

Perhaps one reason for the memoirs is to put to rest the gossip that Florence had an affair with Barry Williams who played her son Greg Brady. While she realized that Barry had a crush on her, she says there was so role in the hay for them. Florence says that they are still just good friends, according to the New York Post.

There was always gossip about who was sleeping with who on that TV show. Put a bunch of people in close contact on a daily basis and you can almost guaranty that at least two of them are getting chummy! Life in the "Brady" home was TV, life in the Henderson home was boring. That was the reason Florence gave for cheating on her husband, she was bored. She isn't the first, or last, woman who went looking for love in all the wrong places because life at home was boring. But not everyone winds up with lice because of it.

In her book, Florence Henderson tells of her early life in an abusive home, her struggles with the rules of the Church regarding birth control and her life as a star on Broadway. The book, "Life is Not a Stage" will be on store shelves on September 20, 2011.

So, no "role" in the hay for Florence and Barry?! LOL!

What a jerk John Lindsay turned out to be, besides being a lousy mayor, not so much for giving the crabs to Florence Henderson, who sort of asked for it, but, in all probability, to his wife as well.

If that's "all" she did, she still had a boring life compared to some of today's celebrities. Some things just don't need to be told....
