On the first floor you will find the wonderful coral reefs, and the critters whom call them home here in Florida. Everything from Sharks, to small clown fish can be spotted as you walk the darken halls filled with aquariums of all shapes, and sizes. You will also find two different petting areas, which allow you to get up close and personal with sting rays, star fish, and more. These petting areas are kid friendly, with special steps for the little ones to stand on. You'll also find the entrance to the extraordinary kids play area located outdoors. This play area includes a huge pirate ship, cargo nets, tons of water cannons, and more. There is plenty of sitting area's for the adults, and if you get thirsty, you'll find a Key West style bar, that can make almost any drink you want. The gift shop is accessible from both the outside play area, and indoors, you might want to stop by before you leave.
Upstairs, you will find some of Florida's most beautiful secrets. Keeping everything open, several of the displays are only a few feet high, allowing you to get an eye to eye view of Florida's wildlife. Find out what lives in the Everglades, Mangroves, and more. The Alligators are one of the kids favorites, however the pair of friendly playful beavers take the top spot. You will also find many birds, snakes, and more. Every direction you look your sure to find something new, and exciting. The second floor also offers a wide selection of everyday household aquariums. These displays offer not only wonderful views of several different species of fish, but also idea's to take home for your own aquarium. Make sure to look at some of the antique aquariums they have on display, there really unique.
As you see, there is plenty to do, and lots of fun to be had. Remember to watch your step, you'll find aquariums built into the floor, over your head, and everywhere in between. For those who can't do a lot of walking, you'll find plenty of seating available. From benches, to rocking chairs, the Florida Aquarium was built to enjoy, not to rush through. There is no lines, no waiting, just families casually strolling through. Visiting the Florida Aquarium offers a day of adventure, fun, education, entertainment, and relaxation. Just when you think you've seen it all, do another walk through, with so much to see, you always miss something.
