The largest colleges and universities in Florida offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees are Miami Dade College, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Southern Florida and Florida State University. SAT scores are considered the "gold standard" when applying to elite Florida colleges and universities, according to the New College of Florida; a public honors college for the Liberal Arts located in Sarasota, Florida.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

The top school in the country for aviation and aerospace as listed on the University website, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. This is also a private college. There are 35 degree programs. The main degree program includes Aviation management, technology science, and engineering. There are certification programs for enrolled students for aircraft maintenance, logistics and instructional system design as well.

State Colleges in Central Florida Florida State University is internationally known for its research, with an emphasis on science and pre-med courses and majors. There are 274 degree programs, with political science/pre-law majors, among psychology, and a flourishing creative arts program; which includes majors in writing, dance, film and theater. Florida State University is a top twenty public research university with one-third of its PhD programs ranked in the Top-15 nationally.

State Colleges in South Florida The University of South Florida consists of 11 colleges, with 228 undergraduate and graduate level degrees. Campuses are in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Lakeland, Florida. The University of South Florida is one of the top research universities in the country.

Private Colleges Stetson is Florida's first private university, founded in 1883. Stetson University has majors and minors for undergraduate students, with graduate programs that include education, counseling, business, law, and English. The college is known for its graduate programs in law.

Agricultural Colleges The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University is a historically African American university, situated on 422 acres in Tallahassee; the state capitol. There are 156 buildings, with campuses spread out around Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville. There are 32 master degree programs, and 62 bachelor degrees available to attending students.

Enrollment and Outcomes In total, there are 330 college campuses throughout Florida. Bachelor's programs are offered at 106 schools, with 63 campuses offering graduate degrees. The Florida community college system offers preparatory programs and associate degrees, with 26 campuses in Florida. A high percentage of enrollment throughout the state is in public colleges. Private colleges may also show high enrollment numbers, with a larger percentage of enrollment in universities such as Miami University, Embry-Riddle and St. Leo University.

Tuition Tuition varies at colleges throughout Florida, and depends on students being in state or out of state residents. In state residents attending college in Florida pay significantly less than out of state students. Various colleges have their financial aid and current tuition fees online. All prospective students should compare programs, scholarships and financial aid packages before enrolling.
