Florida visitors and residents have been fortunate that many concerned citizens and leaders have made it a priority to establish public parks and recreation places that are protected and maintained for current and future use. The state boasts 161 parks spanning 700,000 acres and 100 miles of sandy white beach.
Florida's 67 county's residents enjoy numerous parks, as well individual city kept parks, so many that to visit them all would be a full time occupation.
Florida is rich in history, including several Indian tribes and evidence of people dating back 12,000 years, European settlements date back to 1492, with pirate invasions, later on ther was building and investment by railroad tycoons, farming settlers, resort and vacation attractions to mention a few.
The state is bordered with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other side. You can cross the state in about 2 hours by car, and experience a breathtaking waterfront sunset or sunrise.
Florida is home to many winter residents including birds as well as northern people looking to escape the snow and cold weather, also known as snow birds to the locals. The state is very culturally diverse with people who have relocated from every state in the US as well as worldwide.
Several cities have a significant Latino population and require almost a bilingual education and ability to communicate in multiple languages.
Travel in and out of the state is massive with many airports and airline hubs to most every destination imaginable.
Florida is home to many species of wildlife and there are many that are protected and endangered.
Temperatures and climate are varied but mostly tropical, with summer like weather almost 8 months out of the year.
