Florida Gators Positioning for an NCAA Title Run
Re-Peat Heisman Candidate Tim Tebow Leads Gators to #2 AP Ranking
Getting Past Florida State
Tim Tebow has led the Florida Gators on a seven game winning streak since the Ole Miss loss. The Gators have been un-stoppable in the first quarter in the same timeframe outscoring the competition 122-0 in the first quarter of play and clinching the SEC East Division championship. With a December date set against Alabama, the Gators have a big match-up coming up this weekend against in-state rival, #20 Florida State.
Last Saturday, Florida State picked-apart the ranked Maryland Terrapins, 37-3, to get into position to possibly win their ACC division. The Seminoles will need to focus on getting out to a quick start against the Gators to have a chance at ruining the Gators National Title hopes. If they can stay consistent throughout the game, they may at least stand a shot at being the first team to not get beat by more than three touchdowns against Tim Tebow and company if not have a strong chance at playing the spoiler of the Gators national Title Hopes!
SEC Championship vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide
If the Gators are able to get past the Seminoles in this Saturday's matchup, their last roadblock on the way to the BCS national championship in Miami will be the Crimson Tide on December 6th. Alabama has a tough rivalry game this weekend against the Auburn Tigers. They will have to get off to a better start than last week in their victory against Mississippi State. Auburn will be fighting for bowl eligibility, but John Parker Wilson has been hot, and Mark Ingram and Glen Coffee are coming off of great performances.
Assuming Bama survives the Iron Bowl this weekend, they will need to focus on getting their running game established against the Gators early in the championship game. If the Tide allows Tim Tebow and the Gators to establish a lead, they can not expect to be able to hold them off like they did the Georgia Bulldogs earlier in the season!
BCS National Championship Predictions
If Florida and Alabama both prevail this weekend, the SEC Championship game ultimately becomes a 'play-in' game for the BCS National Championship. Our prediction for the SEC participant is that Tim Tebow is going to lead the Gators past the Seminoles this weekend (though it may be close) and will trounce the Tide on December 6th. What happens though if Chase Daniel (remember him??) leads Missouri to the Big Twelve title? No telling how the BCS computers will react, but our prediction is that Missouri beats one of the 3 one loss teams...only the BCS computers will be able to tell us who should deserve to play Florida...maybe the USC Trojans will have renewed life and play Tim Tebow's Gators for the BCS National Championship!
