Florida Motel Review: Cedar Key Beach Front Motel

Brian Munger
If you are taking a Florida vacation in Cedar Key, then I have a place for you to stay. I'm referring to the Beach Front Motel, which is located at 873 First Street, Cedar Key, Florida 32625. There is nothing fancy about this motel, although, to be honest, there is nothing fancy about any of the other hotels/motels in Cedar Key, either. Cedar Key is known as having a historic small town setting, so a big enormous 5-star hotel would not really fit in with the rest of the surroundings.

The Beach Front Motel is only two stories high, so don't expect to find dozens and dozens of families and visitors scurrying around the parking lot and swimming pools. You won't have to worry about going to the pool and not having a place to sit if you stay here. Due to there not being a ton of rooms in this motel, make sure to reserve your room ahead of time if you plan on going there during a peak time.

At this motel, you will have a marvelous view of the Gulf Coast. The motel is literally just yards away from the water. Several of the rooms provide balconies so you can sit outside and enjoy the view. However, if you do get one of the "parking lot view" rooms, then you can still obtain a great view of the Gulf by simply strolling to the pool area and sitting back with a cold beverage.

During my stay, I paid approximately $120 (plus tax) for a room with a balcony, a Gulf view, and a king-sized bed. The cheapest rooms are the parking lot view rooms, which usually go for $95 per night. These prices may not sound very cheap, but I can assure you that you won't even care once you see the splendid views that you have. If by chance you are taking a long extended vacation, they offer seasonal monthly rates of $1200.

As far as cleanliness goes, this establishment is well maintained. I will admit that there were some scratches and scrapes in the bathroom area, but nothing to scare you away. As long as there are no roaches roaming around, then hey, I'm fine!

In addition to the great view, you are only a two minute drive from the main dockside area, where you can find various shops, fishing docks and water-side bars and restaurants. You will also be close to boat rentals, so you can boat around the beautiful water and do some fishing. In addition, there are golf cart rentals nearby in case you just want to take a relaxing and casual cruise around the town.

I love Cedar Key. Did you have heart of palm salad while you were there?
