Florida residents will have a chance to win Powerball Lottery. The first drawing will be on Wednesday, January 7th 2009. Floridians will have their chance at an estimated 105 million dollar jackpot.

Florida residents have been eagerly waiting for their chance to win the Powerball lottery for some time. The Powerball drawings will now be held at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. Previously the Powerball drawing were held at Screenscape Studios in Urbandale, Iowa.

Florida lottery officials finally decided in July of 2008 to let Powerball come to the state. They previously had rejected all efforts to get Powerball in the Sunshine state fearing what it would do to the state's lottery. Since Florida is joining the Powerball Lottery the base prize will be upped to 20 million dollars. Previously the base was a cool 15 million. Florida is the 30th state to join the multi-state lottery.

Since the state of Florida has now joined, the odds of winning the Powerball lottery have now increased to 1 in 198 million. Before Florida joined Powerball players had a 1 in 146 million of winning the jackpot. You have a much better chance of being stuck by lighting. You have a 1 in 700,000 of getting struck. Chances for a citizen of the United States of dying in a tsunami are about 1 in 500,000. The chances may not be good for actually winning the good. The chance you will dream of what you will do if you do win the big jackpot 100%

Powerball officials have been out in full force teach Floridians how to play power ball correctly. Many Florida residents have been slightly confused at the design of the Powerball tickets. The official Florida Lottery website here explains all the details of how to play.

The official Powerball website has a list of which television channels will be airing the Powerball drawings live. Currently they do not list any of the channels in Florida to watch. Florida residents can get the drawing results by calling (850) 921-PLAY (7529) and by checking the Florida Lottery website here.

ABC KCRG- News reported on the Powerball move from Iowa to Universal Studios. Reporting that Lottery officials say the move will improve production quality and allow greater exposure by linking up with Universal.
