You don't have to be a genius to decorate with flowers or most anything for that matter.
I bet you could look around your house right now or dig in the attic and find something that could easily have a makeover and using flowers would be perfect!
First off, you want to know what kind of flowers you want to use. I suggest trying silk flowers to start with. They're pretty and fairly easy to work with. Don't worry, they're actually polyester not silk! They look and smell nice depending on where you get them of course.
If you have a vase you could put a few clear or colored stones in the bottom and then pick out a few of the silk flowers as well as some greenery to put it in the vase. It would be great anywhere from the table to your child's dresser. You have no worry of keeping them alive and they look nice and fresh and are a great accent to any room.
If you are more of the down home country style, you can find an old wagon or even some old coffee cans, paint them and then put your potted plants in the wagon or plant some in the coffee can. Arrange them inside or in the yard for a very pleasant country style look.
If you are more contemporary and want to use real flowers I suggest finding your favorite flower and then picking something out, whether a vase or cylinder glass, something that you just love. Then pick somewhere to place it in your house. Do more than one if you need to.
If you are creative and learn fast, you could take a class on wreath making or anything to do with flowers. You can take classes at places like Home Depot and learn some new ways to decorate and get your own ideas.
I think having flowers in a home is a must. Something about the life and smell of them is so refreshing. If you do not have a green thumb, I don't suggest buying real flowers. You would be better to use artificial flowers and then when you replace them, just save the old ones to use again later on or for a different project. That is the nice thing, not having to toss them out like real flowers.
Just remember the next time you look at that flower the way it makes you feel and how calming it can actually be. (Granted it isn't dying at this time!)
