Where to Get Your Supplies?

Faux flower petals are sold in the wedding favor aisle of the craft section at Wal-Mart, probably most craft supply stores and also at the dollar tree in the party favors. My favorite place to buy tissue paper is the Dollar Tree, because you can get a lot of it for a dollar. Popsicle sticks are sold a both the dollar tree and Wal-Mart in the craft sections along with pipe cleaners. You can actually purchase all or most of the supplies for these flowers at either store.

Load and heat your hot glue gun carefully on a table and protect flammable materials. Work on an old plate. Begin by gluing two petals together and continue to glue and shape your flower as you wish layer upon layer until you've reached your preferred height for your flower. You'll need this tip for safely pressing the petals together. Apply pressure to the hot petals quickly and cautiously with a popsicle stick. Once you've basically built the flower body tear off a small amount of green tissue paper, wad it up and glue to the center of your flower. Now slightly trim one end of a green pipe cleaner for the stem and gently bend the entire length to make it curvy just a bit for character, bend a small section of one end until it's flat for support and glue that end onto your flower. Turn your gun off. If you want you may choose to lightly cover your flower in Elmer's glue and sprinkle glitter for a glamorous effect. Now, you're ready to decide the finishing touches.

Other Options: You can skip the pipe cleaner stem and use as a coffee table center piece on a decorative plate or include the stem and place in a vase. If you want you may choose to lightly cover your flower in Elmer's Glue and sprinkle glitter for a glamorous effect.

You can also glue one or two flowers to a hair clip to give to your daughter for a special occasion.

Decorative Purposes

Flower Petal Flowers make the perfect spontaneous anytime gift or perfect additions to gift wrapping. Just glue the flower onto an already wrapped gift box or include inside a gift bag on top of the gift without glue of course. White or red flowers are fun for Christmas with glitter. For everyday decorating or as an added Valentine's touch this flower craft is versatile and joyful to make.

Caution: Always supervise young children with the hot glue gun and never leave it plugged in unattended. Keep an eye on pets who may frivolously brush up against the hot glue gun. Careful not to burn your fingers while applying glue.
