Seasonal flowers - It is generally a good idea to try and get flowers that are in season. This reduces costs for you and for your florist of choice, as well as makes things a little bit less stressful so that you don't have to worry that your flowers of choice are not going to be available on time. Some seasonal blooms that are around during the winter months include roses, camelias, white stephanotis, poinsettia, holly, and amaryllis flowers. Some of these are often associated with the Christmas holiday, so if you don't want your wedding to look like a Christmas celebration then you may want to be a little more creative and perhaps mix things up quite a bit!
Add extra interest to your arrangements - This is especially a good idea if you are using a single color flower - perhaps winter white. You don't want to be drowned out in your wedding photographs, and so adding a little texture and a little bit of interest to the wedding arrangements can help a lot. Try using some greenery or even things like little crystals or pearls in the arrangements.
You can also incorporate this added interest to the rest of your wedding venue - try sprinkling fake snow on the greenery in the building, for instance. You could use ivy arrangements throughout, and snow is a natural beautification to this winter plant. And, speaking of fake snow, you could also have your flower girl sprinkle the fake snow on the wedding aisle instead of the typical flower petals.
Use something other than flowers - Of course flowers are everybody's favorite, but you can opt for something instead of blooms. Try having the wedding party carry little candles or tea lights. This can make the occassion even more beautiful! You could mix things up a bit, too, perhaps having the wedding party carry something different and unique while you the Bride carry the only flower bouquet.
Indeed, your winter wedding can be one of dreams! And your flowers and flower arrangements are no exception - in fact, it's an added opportunity to use your creative side!
