Flowers in the Attic

Debby Alten
Fragments
In boxes filled with memories
A rose
Soft red petals
Parched
Clothed in dust of gold

Broken panes
Wind blows the pages of their lives
Soft red petals
Caress white gloves of silk
Faded
Love dissipates

Sweet jasmine
Welcomes haunting memories
A photograph
A Flag draped
Alone
With flowers in the attic

Crushed violets
Faint whispers
Don't cry too long
White doves
A February love song
Remember
Leave flowers in the attic for me

crushed purple violet blossoms is what Saint Valentine used for ink to write his notes of love and encouragements to his friends.
