Flowery Summer

Julie Wimmer
The flowers of summer are what make me happy
when the sun is hot and shining bright.
I know it must sound sort of sappy,
but I go outside just to see them, to my delight.

All sorts of colors and sizes and shapes they come in,
these flowers shine and sweat in the beating sun.
I pour water with love, so they will stay cool and trim
all the while admiring them with my green thumb.

Flowers start blooming in the Spring, as we know,
but the hearty ones stay on through the summer.
Annuals and Perennials sprouting and giving us a show,
when September comes, it's a bit of a bummer.

Enjoy these beauties while you can,
for summer whips by like a bee.
Take care of these flowers with a loving hand,
because they love to blow in the breeze.
