Floyd Landis a Doper and Liar

Katie D
Floyd Landis was indeed guilty of doping during the 2006 Tour de France. He was stripped of his title after he won when doping testers found evidence of banned substances in his blood. He had maintained he did nothing wrong, saying the tests were inaccurate - until now.

Yes, all those nationwide campaigns insisting his innocence, all those press conferences accusing the testers of wrongdoing, all those publicity stunts to 'prove his innocence' - they were nothing but lies.

In fact, Landis did a lot of doping during his time as a professional cyclist. During his time with the Unites States Postal Service and the Switzerland-based team Phonak. Landis "detailed extensive, consistent use of the red blood cell booster erythropoietin (commonly known as EPO), testosterone, human growth hormone and frequent blood transfusions, along with female hormones and a one-time experiment with insulin" according to ESPN, during his professional tenure with these teams.

That's not the most surprising part. Apparently, Landis is not going down without taking others with him. Like Jose Canseco, Landis will likely become infamous not for doping, but for being the whistle blower on others - and neither offer any proof of doping by the athletes they accuse. So, who is Landis accusing? So many people it's pretty amazing: "dozens of other athletes including seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong, team management and owners, and officials of the sport's national and international governing bodies." He emailed his accusing lists to anti-doping agencies and to cycling officials for further investigation.

Of course, the most interest is in the accusation of Armstrong. He has been accused of doping innumerable times by cycling fans, professionals and officials. Yet, he is the most tested athlete in professional sports, and he has never once failed a drug test. One has to wonder how Landis thinks Armstrong doped and didn't get caught: and if Landis knows this information, why wouldn't he have done a better job himself?

For the record, Armstrong was quoted by ABC Radio Australia News as dismissing the claims, saying, "I've got nothing to hide, nothing to run from."

So, what exactly is this? It appears Landis is about to go under, and he's desperately seeking someone to take down with him. Or maybe he's trying to get the attention off of his own problems. His behavior in the past - the constant lies and misleading the public about his innocence for so long - definitely doesn't lead anyone to believe that he would be telling the truth now. Especially since the facts proved him wrong last time with his positive drug test, and the facts on everyone else are negative drug tests.
