Flu Fighters

Angie Shiflett
Influenza, commonly called the "flu", can be a very uncomfortable condition. People with the flu may remain sick for up to two weeks. If complications arise, that length of time may be extended. Each year, across the United States there is a new flu outbreak. It is important to understand ways that you can fight the flu. In this article, I will be listing some of the ways that you can fight the flu.

The very first way that you can fight the flu is to go in and see your physician. If the flu is caught in a timely manner, the doctor may be able to prescribe medications that can resolve the issue very quickly. It is also important that the doctor rule out other possible conditions that resemble the flu.

When you have the flu, it is important to get as much rest as you are able to. If you allow your body to rest, it can gain the strength that it requires to fight off the flu. If you engage in activities, you may suffer through the flu longer because you will waste the energy that the body needs to store. You should also ensure that you consume as many clear liquids as possible so that your body stays hydrated and gets the amount of fluid that it needs. It is also important to eat as much as you can in order to gain strength. If you are unable to hold food down, stick to liquids at the minimum.

If you take medication while experiencing the flu, you may gain relief from aches and pains, as well as the fever that is associated with the flu. You can buy many specialty medications over the counter for flu. You can buy medicines that prevent you from vomiting, cough suppressants, diarrhea, and other things. In addition to taking medications, you should try to use a vaporizer in the room where you are staying. This will assist in cleaning up flem in your throat and mouth.

It is important to understand that there is no known cure for the flu, but vaccines are available to help prevent you from getting the flu. Your doctor may decide to prescribe you with various types of medications to clear up the symptoms of the flu. If this is the case, be sure to take all medicines as prescribed. Most of the time, you will be issued an antibiotic to help alleviate the symptoms of the flu and speed up the healing process.
