The cheapest and easiest option is if you work for a mid to large size employer, they may be having a flu shot service come to the office. Since having workers out sick with the flu is expensive to employers, this may be available to you for free. If not, several Tucson area convenient clinics exist.
CVS pharmacies have a service called minute clinic intended for the basic diagnosis and treatments for minor ailments and vaccinations - including the flu shot. You do not need an appointment but they do request that you wait around for about twenty minutes after your flu shot to check for any unexpected reactions or complications. These are the easiest to schedule since they are open every day and do not require an appointment. According to their website, two locations to get the flu shot in Tucson are:
CVS/pharmacy
3785 West Ina Road
Clinic Hours:
M - F, 8am - 8 pm, Sat & Sun, 10am-4pm (closed for lunch from 2:00 - 2:30pm, M-F)
Standard health insurance co-pays apply, and they take checks if you do not have health insurance.
CVS/pharmacy
3832 East Speedway Boulevard
Clinic Hours are Monday to Friday from 8am - 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm
Practitioners take a lunch break from 2:00 - 2:30pm, M-F.
Visit http://www.minuteclinic.com/en/USA/AZ/Tucson/Clinics.aspx for information regarding insurance and directions to the clinic.
Another option is Target flu shot event days. These are on specific dates and times in October and November. Their website encourages potential flu shot patients to get the most up-to-date clinic information from the local store on the day of the clinic. October flu shot dates include:
Target
5255 E Broadway Blvd
Tucson, AZ 85711
October 27, 2007
10:00 AM-2:00 PM
Target
9615 E Old Spanish Trail
Tucson, AZ 85748
October 27, 2007
10:00 AM-2:00 PM
More dates may be posted for Target for the month of November at https://secure.novartisotc.com/secure.novartisotc/FluShotEventSearch.nov
Wal-Mart offers the flu shot without an appointment at select Wal-Mart stores on event dates to be announced. Also Wal-Mart is giving away sample bags. Samples include Theraflu and Kleenex items, amongst others. Please note that only individuals 9 years and older are eligible to receive the vaccine in stores.
