Flu Shot Clinics in the United States: Mollen Immunization Clinics Review
Where and when to Get Influenza Immunizations
Where to Receive Influenza Vaccinations
According to the company website, Mollen Immunization Clinics will provide over 27,000 flu vaccines across all 50 of the United States in 2009. Mollen Immunization Clinics are held in convenient sites like grocery stores, superstores, corporations, community centers, schools, and more each flu season.
Nearly 50% of all flu immunizations delivered outside of traditional medical practice settings in Arizona each year are done by them. Mollen Immunization Clinics are one of the two largest mass immunization providers in the United States.
On my doctor's advice, I have received influenza vaccinations at Mollen Immunization Clinics for many years. I find their nurses personable and caring, even when I have been the 327th person in line that day. The customer care professionals are equally kind in assessing individual needs and specific insurance or payment protocol necessary. My insurance is not on their no co-pay list, but the cost last year was less than a doctor visit at $30.
No Co-Pay on Many Insurance Plans
The Mollen Immunization Clinics website offers a list of insurance providers for each U.S. state in which their flu shot clinics do not require any Co-Pay for their patients. In Arizona this year, 33 insurance plans are on the no Co-Pay flu shot list and about 28 are on the no Co-Pay pneumonia shot list. Cash payment is also an option for flu and pneumonia vaccinations for uninsured and individuals with insurance coverage not included on the no Co-Pay list.
Mollen Customer Care Professionals are happy to provide receipts for payment and individuals, whose insurance is omitted from the no Co-Pay list, may submit receipts to their insurance for possible reimbursement.
Mollen Immunization Clinics are in All 50 of the United States
The website also includes a 50 state map and specific Mollen Immunization Clinic locator for your city and specific dates of interest. Flu and pneumonia shot clinics are offered from September through December in all 50 of the United States.
Some of the sites that partner with Mollen Immunization Clinics are: AJ's Fine Foods, Albertsons, Albertson-Osco, Albertsons-Sav-on, Bashas', CVS Pharmacy's, Food City, Fry's Food & Drug (Kroger), Rite Aid, and Wal-Mart.
When to Get Flu Vaccines
The influenza season begins as early as September and ends as late as May, depending on many factors across regions of the United States. Because of America's long flu season and its peak around February, getting immunized throughout the fall and winter can be advantageous.
Normally, one vaccination per year is all adults need to protect against the flu. In 2009, the situation brings an additional shot option besides the annual flu shot, in the new vaccine to help guard against H1N1 flu (Swine Flu).
According to a July 29, 2009 press release from the Center for Disease Control, the novel H1N1 vaccine is intended to work in addition to the seasonal flu vaccine, and the two different flu vaccines may be administered on the same day. This assumes both the novel H1N1 vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine will be available simultaneously. If not, many people will make 2 separate trips to receive both vaccines.
I begin referring to the Mollen website right after Labor Day each year, to check for their Flu Shot Clinic Schedule in my local area. The website also has an "Influenza Risk Calculator" to see who needs a flu shot. The website also lists side effects, links to H1N1 Flu updates, and the Mollen flu shot clinics' dates & sites for all 50 states.
