The new designs, which propose we "Keep America Safe, Fly Commando" are a send-up of the aftermath of the attempted terrorist attack made on a Northwest Airlines flight on Christmas day by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Abdulmutallab attempted to detonate a bomb hidden in his underwear, but was thwarted by passengers and crew members.
The company released a statement saying "Thanks to attempted terrorist attacks, we now have to take our shoes off and can't bring liquid on planes. With this latest attempted attack, what's next? Full body scans or cavity searches to check for underwear bombs? To help alleviate the need for these expensive, time consuming, and potentially embarrassing searches, we propose that patriotic Americans do their part and fly commando!"
The line of products, which contains a variety of t-shirts, coffee mugs, tote bags, bbq aprons, and mouse pads, include the tag line "Keep America Safe, Fly Commando" and a picture of a pair of underwear with the famous red "no" symbol across them.
Products are available in both men's and women's designs, with the men's design displaying a pair of briefs and the women's design sporting a pair of pink panties.
T-shirts come in a variety of styles, colors, and sizes, and range in price from $19.99 to $26.99 plus shipping and handling. Accessories range in price from $12.99 plus s/h for a coffee mug to $19.99 plus s/h for a bbq apron or tote bag.
While the designs are comical and timely, the company is not just out to get a laugh and make a quick buck. A portion of proceeds from the sale of their products will be donated to the Navy SEALS/Warrior Defense Fund. The company feels strongly that we all need to do our part to thank and provide for those who risk their lives for our continued safety and well being.
Products are available for order directly from the company's web site, www.flycommando.com. The company plans to introduce new products and designs in the near future.
