Flying Foreign Flags on American Soil Should Be Banned Except on Dignatorial Visits, Foriegn Missions and the UN Plaza

First of all, if you are a racist or reverse racist, don't be heartened by my article. I am not one among you. My family too was a beneficiary of immigration. But unlike many have followed that in letter and spirit.

We have not flown a foreign flag after setting foot on this soil. We have not taken part in any fairs or special festivals that is supposed to boost our ethnic pride, though others of our origin still do it. Because if we really cared for our ethnic pride, we should not have come to this land to show that off.

But with politicians fanning up ethnic rivalries on the sly to gain votes, gradually this country has become a racist-reverse racist society again. Even if somebody wants to get themselves out of this racist-reverse racist rut, they are pushed back as elections happen every four or two years.

And such attitudes have destroyed America's workplace. Racist-reverse racist attitudes have spawn nepotism. And that filled America's workplaces with friends and families, not workers of merit.

That means only one out of five employees is doing any real job. When a job ad says "you should be a team player" I laugh because that means you should be that naive one-out-of-five fool who is willing to do the work of others while the resourceful other four-out-of-five lazy bums while away their time on the internet playing or chatting or on the phone calling their soul mates!

Now, American managers are afraid to take action, as they are likely to be manhandled or even killed by the family and friends masquerading as workers.

I had the misfortune of seeing the staff of a hospital delaying the transfer of a dead patient to the mortuary just because there was only ten minutes left for their schedule to end. They wanted to put that responsibility on their relievers!

Add to that, the opportunistic attitude of some immigrants who consider this land only as a convenient pad for everything else but considering it as a homeland.

Some want America to fight their wars.
Some want America to enrich their homelands.
Some consider an immigrant visa as a job visa.

And again no racist or reverse racist need be happy about this article because they are part of the reason for some people to be so alienated that they become internal enemies of USA.

I had seen that hypocrisy in the immediate post-9/11 period. I was coming out of my workplace to the parking lot. I saw some guys doing some mischief to the car of one of my colleagues. They were tearing off the American flag sticker from the car shouting the owner of the car was not American. I told them whether they liked his race or not, they cannot dishonor the flag of this land.

I went in to bring fresh stickers from the office. Our Manager and staff too joined in applying fresh stickers - not only to the front but to the sides and the rear of the car.

I still remember what our manager told the miscreants: "Who is the real American here? You guys who tore the flag or my employee who proudly stuck it on his car?"

The immediate provocation for writing this article was a procession I recently saw in downtown Manhattan on an ethnic pride day hoopla.

All the participants were holding foreign flags. NOT EVEN ONE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER THERE!

That was utter and abject treachery from a group of people for whom this land has sacrificed the lives of its countless citizens.

No, this drama has gone too far.

Flying of all foreign flags WITHOUT EXCEPTION should be banned. The only places for them in USA are the diplomatic missions and UN Plaza.

Politicians should stop encouraging ethnic polarization for selfish motives.

Immigrants are not coming here as diplomats. There are ambassadors and consular officials to do that.

By immigration I don't mean quick job-visas which has become a back-door mechanism to cheat legal immigrant visa applicants who wait patiently for decades to be part of this land.

And all this can work only if the racist-reverse racist gang stop thinking they are the only patriots in this country, or that this land and its opportunities belong to them only. Again, by opportunities, I don't mean job visas.

Why did our founding fathers decide that this should be a land of immigrants?

They knew that this country can become whole and the BEST by allowing all the GOODNESS that resides in all the other nations of the world to come in. They were not racially blinded hypocrites to decide that GOOD resided in them only. They wanted the imperfections they couldn't correct during their lifetime to be corrected by new generations of immigrants. They knew that every nation in this world had something GOOD (not BAD, mind you) to contribute to make this nation the BEST.

Actually it is a two step process:

1. You leave the BADNESS of your culture in the land of your birth and bring in only its GOODNESS over the oceans.

2. Then on coming here, you assimilate the GOODNESS in this country and reject the BADNESS in this country.

Unfortunately, we have failed the founding fathers miserably.

We bring in BADNESS from the land of our origins and make it worse by integrating it with the BADNESS already prevalent in this land.

Any American who says we are all Gods and that there is no BADNESS in this country is a hypocrite. This land has suffered more than enough from that kind of hypocrisy. This self-righteousness is fit for frogs-in-the-well.

I know we have a very daunting task in correcting the derailed process of making this a land of good immigrants. Still, doing that is better than digging our own cultural grave.

Yes, I am either an American or I am not. I can't be both. And I need not seek refuge under racism or reverse racism to avoid that responsibility. Nor can America survive if everybody needs to hate somebody to be an American.

But if I am a person who sees this country as a land of BAD "opportunism" and not as a land of GOOD "opportunity", the whole point of immigration is lost.

If everybody in this land loves some other country, not this country, how can this country survive?

Both the settlers and the immigrants are digging the grave for USA by ignoring the two GOOD steps involved in building the BEST nation in the world as the founding fathers envisaged.
