Flying Over Abria

Tashaka was currently flying over the city of Abria to a debriefing. Because of the amount of violence that she and the other Peacekeepers faced they were required to attend regular debriefings.

What she saw as she looked over the land that she called home made her grieve. Because of the war the city was in a devastating state. Buildings torn apart by war, lots of cut up land where the war has blown through, smog and smoke everywhere. If people had to go out of there homes they were too scared to walk alone.

Tashaka was a shape-shifter who took the form of a beautiful black crow with a distinguishing patch of white feathers over her left eye. If you looked closer at her you would notice that she has a wide collection of scares old and new.

Another reason Tashaka was a member of the Peacekeepers was because she had a crow companion. Tashaka's crow's name was Toku. Tashaka and Toku communicated by speaking mind to mind.

The Peacekeepers protected the innocent; people not involved in the war. The Peacekeepers were made up of a variety of people and races. Some were shape-shifters, some straight human.

Tashaka finally reached her destination, Headquarters of the Peacekeepers (HP). She went trough the entering process, boredom apparent on her face. No, she did not carry any guns, yes; she carried a few blades (knives). Tashaka didn't tell the security guard that a few was eight to ten. Yes, she had a license for her concealed weapons. No she was not going to use them on anyone inside the building (what a stupid question, if she was going to use them on someone she was not about to tell the security guard; now was she?) In addition, she had a reason for being here; she was attending the meeting and on the boredom went. More questions asked and more questions answered.

"Could I see your pass then please?" asked the beefy security guard, holding out his hand. Tashaka barely restrained herself from rolling her eyes, as she handed over her pass, her papers on why she was here, and her concealed weapons license.

"Please wait while I confirm who you are and what you are here for. Thank you for being so cooperative, you would be amazed at how many people make sarcastic remarks about some of the questions we ask, just as you and your people have your jobs to do; so do we. All I'm saying, is thank you,"

The security guard talked into the miniphone for a few moments and then disconnected. "You are free to go through; here is a map, although you probably already know where you are going. When you're out in the field give the baddies some lumps for me would you."

The emotions coming off this man took Tashaka back a bit; he was grieving the death of his family, a group of the enemy free fighters murdered them and tortured him by making him watch; as much as he wanted to avenge their deaths by becoming a Peacekeeper. He could not; because he knew he would not keep his head in the field. That is why he instead became part of the guardhouse security, in his way protecting the protectors. Tashaka didn't say anything more to the grief stricken guard instead she put a soothing hand on his shoulder and eased a tiny bit of his pain.
