FMV Cheese Singles Product Review

Johanna Swith
I have tried a huge assortment of For Maximum Value products made by the Kroger company. I have been 95% pleased with FMV products to date. It is a rare occasion when you purchase an item from this line that does not exceed your expectations. For Maximum Value products are affordable and generally a decent quality for the price. Out of all of the For Maximum Value products I have tried the most recent experience has been my only unsatisfactory purchase. In all fairness I was not really disappointed with For Maximum Value imitation cheese slices, but I won't purchase them again.

While completing my weekly grocery shopping at Kroger, I needed to purchase cheese slices for making sandwiches for lunches. The national and store brands of cheese singles were outrageously priced this week, and the cheapest varities included Kroger brand cheese singles for around $4 for 24 slices or $1.28 for 16 For Maximum Value imitation cheese slices. I have always been pleased with products from the For Maximum Value line so I decided to try the cheese singles out. I did not expect to like this product, but my need to save money speaks louder than my pleasures currently.

While I have had worse imitation cheese, I can honestly say not much worse. As I opened the first cheese single I was greeted by a very artificial butter scent, like you would get from a cheap microwave popcorn. I hoped that the taste was not like the aroma.

In my opinion, For Maximum Value imitation cheese slice singles are like eating a strange colored slice of butter with cheese flavorings added. This product does not taste like cheese... I don't plan on ever buying For Maximum value cheese singles again. In this rare occasion, I will spend up to three times the price for a better flavor and quality instead of skimping and buying imitation cheese slices. I will say this product melts very well, but it still retains its buttery flavor and texture.

I would not recommend For Maximum Value imitation cheese single slices to others unless the particular consumer really loves the taste of artificial butter products. It is one of the rare products from the For Maximum Value line that did not satisfy me. It is an affordable product, but it is not a great value and it does not have a great flavor, or even a decent flavor.
