Focus Softcolors 1-2 Colored Contact Lenses VS. Freshlook Colorblends Contact Lenses

A Guide to Choose Colored Contacts

Alexis Valentine
Colored contacts are the only way to change your eye color temporarily whether you're unhappy with your natural color or just wanting to try something new. I have brown eyes and love them, but there was a time where I wanted to try out colored contacts just to see what I would look like in them. Luckily for me my eyes are the same prescription so I only had to order one box from each brand that I tried. I ordered green colored contacts from Focus Softcolors and Freshlook Colorblends. Both boxes came with three pairs of contact lenses and can be worn for one to two weeks.

What I liked about Focus Softcolors contact lenses was that I was able to find my prescription quite easily and I believe the one box of contact lenses only costs me around $20. I ordered mine off of the internet but Focus Softcolors are also available at most places that sell contact lenses. I also like that the lenses were super soft, easy to put in and didn't irritate my eyes. Often times I have problems with contacts getting dry if I wear them for too long or my eyes get tired but I didn't have those problems with this particular contact lenses.

As affordable and comfortable as Focus Softcolors were they weren't very good colored contacts. The design for these were just awful and the color choices were limited to three, green, blue and maybe grey. The evergreen color I got was translucent and didn't show up at all over my brown eyes. I doubt they'd work with light eyes either. There were no pupil holes, the entire lens except the outer edges were a translucent green color. When I tried them on I saw everything in a tinted green-yellowish hue. It was like wearing sunglasses without the UV ray protection. The worst part was when I tried to take the contact lenses out. They were so soft and slick that I couldn't get a good grip on the lenses and spent a good hour before I got both sides out.

The next set of contact lenses I tried were Freshlook's Colorblends, also in green. Right away I like the design of these so much more than Focus'. They also offer more color choices too. I like the designs on these because it's a blend of colors that create a much more natural look. They have colors designed for both light and dark eyes and can be ordered online or in stores where ever contact lenses are sold.

What I didn't like about Freshlook's Colorblends is that they costs more than Focus. I got my box for around $30 and since I was unable to find my prescription from any contact lens website in this brand I had to get it non-prescriptive. I also noticed that these lenses were slightly stiffer than Focus' Softcolors. I prefer soft contacts because they don't irritate or dry out my eyes, these weren't hard but they weren't what I was use to and I could definitely feel it on my eyes.

If I had to choose between Focus Softcolors and Freshlook Colorblends I'd have to go with Freshlook for sure. Focus Softcolors were a complete waste of money because it didn't do what it was suppose to do to. If I could ever find my prescription in Freshlook I would absolutely order a pair.
