Fogo De Chao: A U.S. Brazilian-Style Restaurant Experience in Addison, Texas

Dallas is the first United States city to welcome Fogo de Chao a Brazilian-inspired restaurant of fine South American style cuisine. The ambiance and décor make this beautiful setting a wise choice. My friend decided to make reservations for a small group of us to celebrate her husband's birthday. As we first walked into the restaurant we were greeted with the aroma of Fogo's meat cooking over a wood burning fire. The method is historically known as is churrasco, the Gaucho way of roasting meats over pits of open fire for delicious barbecues. The meat choices are plentiful and a delight to the palate for those who enjoy tender cuts of chicken, beef, pork, lamb roasted to perfection and sliced from the skewer right to a guest's plate. We decided to a start with the variety of fresh salad choices. The selections for adding to salads were plentiful from artichoke hearts, asparagus spears, cous-cous, waldorf salads, a multitude of cheeses, fire-roasted tomatoes and virtually any vegetable one could possibly think off.

Fogo de Chao is an all you can eat affair so remember to pace yourself while eating. Once you sit down and the table is set for your party you don't have to move again. This is truly a premium service affair where the staff is definitely there to cater to your party. Each guest is given a flip card so the waiting staff knows when it's time to bring another succulent choice of meat for your taste bud's enjoyment. Flip the card to green when you want to be served and turn it over to red when you want to be passed by. The meal can be complimented with an abundance of fresh cheesy bread or plantains. The salad was wonderful for each of us but after one plate we all decided to go for the gusto and prepare for the main course of roasted meats. For the most part I decided to play it safe and try out the variations of chicken (bacon wrapped, roasted, smoked, wine flavored, etc.). However, I did try the top sirloin and my facial expression was a wide smile because it melted in my mouth. For all you steak lovers and meat connoisseurs Fogo Da Chao might be the paradise that you have been looking for but haven't discovered just yet.

After an hour and half we all begin to slow down to make some possible room for desert. Sorbets, chocolate mousse cake, ice creams, strawberry cheesecake and banana crème brulee served with cinnamon ice cream are just of the few desert menu items. My friends and I enjoyed the sorbets, ice cream, chocolate mousse cake and ice wine.

Overall, Fogo Da Chao was a great experience it was roughly about fifty dollars a person plus drinks and desert but it is certainly well worth the price.

$50 per person. Its an occasion for me. The food is usually good at that price. *chuckle* I should try Brazilian cuisine someday.

Great review and it sounds wonderful-but the price makes it only for a celebration or rare occasion for me.

Wow, this place sounds very similar to Texas de Brazille in Addison off of Beltline. Wonder if they changed their name and it's the same restaurant? I'll have to do some investigating :D
