FOLD UP MAPS

Kathryn Neff Perry
I think the same person who invented fold up maps also invented artificial Christmas trees.
When you take that tree out of the box, the box shrinks.
There is no way "that" tree came out of "that" box. And where did I store all that stuff all year?
Right at the moment its sitting in the hall because the closet it came out of is full or toys and clothes and boxes that I swear weren't there several weeks ago. I recruited everyone to help me put things away things away this year.
Amy kept telling me she knew we were putting away more decorations than we got out. I was so anxious to take the tree down so we could clean the house and try to get everything back to "normal".

After we took the tree down and put all the decorations away I realized how empty the house looked. That was the day my husband called me from work. I could tell by the panic in his voice that something was wrong.

"Well", he began, " I realized on the way to work this morning what a mistake I made."
I had no idea what he was talking about.
"Before I left this morning," he explained, "I told the kids to clean their rooms. I thought since you have the rest of the house cleaned and everything put away, they should clean their rooms too."
Well, that is wonderful! I want them to clean their rooms."
"But you don't understand, if they run the sweeper in there before they pick up the junk on the floor they will break the sweeper."
"Oh, that!" "Don't worry---they don't know where we keep the sweeper."
