Folded Ponytail Hairstyle Guide

Faye Morgan
It is easy for many of us just to throw our hair back into a ponytail and go. This is a versatile and fast choice to go with and that can be a lifesaver at times. But aren't you getting sick of the same old ponytail? The folded ponytail only takes a few minutes longer to accomplish and is almost as easy. Follow these step by step instructions to get a new twist on an old hairstyle.

For this hairstyle you will need:

Hair Spray, (Strong Hold)

Hair Gel

One Elastic Ponytail Holder

Bobby Pins

Rattail Comb

Large Paddle Brush

Flat Iron, (Optional)

First, separate your hair into four even sections, one with the hair on the back of your head, one for each side of your head, and one section on the crown of your head.

Now, pull the back section of your hair into a ponytail at the center of the back of your head. Secure this with a small elastic ponytail holder.

Next, wrap the right section of your hair around the base of your ponytail, covering the elastic band. When the entire section is wrapped around the base of your ponytail, use the last bit of hair to pin the section of hair into the base of your ponytail using a bobby pin. Be sure to hide all loose strands well.

Now repeat the last step with the left section of your hair. Try to hide the bobby pin as best as you can when securing your hair into the ponytail.

Using your fingers, apply about a quarter sized dollop of gel to the back and sides of your head to smooth the hair and hold it in place. Now lightly spritz the back and sides of your head with hairspray.

Grab the crown section of your hair and lift it straight up, hold it there. With a rattail comb, rat your hair close to the scalp. Start about two inches above your scalp and work your way down. Now, lay your hair back and smooth with a large paddle brush. Tuck the ends of this section of hair behind the base of your ponytail using the end of a rattail comb. Smooth your hair where needed and hide any strays in your ponytail. Spritz all over with hair spray.

Run a very hot flat iron over your ponytail, if necessary, to smooth it out.
