Following Your Heart

Shana Davis
The path of following your heart is the path less traveled for it is the path that is feared the most. Only the bravest will venture down this obscure path, which could lead to embarrassment, disappointment and heartache if you fail. But to "fail" as defined by the dictionary is described as unable to fulfill obligations. You only fail when you don't try, try again. Otherwise you never fail and to realize this is the beginning to awakening that inner calling. This calling, this inner voice of who you really are or want to be can be kept quiet or pushed down for long periods of time. But eventually it will rise up again and again. When you're brave enough to answer this calling, it will take you on an adventure of your life.

To have a calling on your life doesn't mean there won't be obstacles. As a matter of fact there will probably be more obstacles on this path than any other path you could ever take. But when you don't give up and make it passed all the obstacles, the reward is more than you could ever imagine and more satisfying. Everything makes sense again. Your spirit is free, you are awake and your creativity is flowing more effortlessly and all the challenges that you faced earlier will only make you stronger for future delays. However this time fear will not be an issue and you will rise to each occasion with confidence, being an inspiration to all those who doubted you.

By remaining humble knowing life is a lot bigger than you, you will be used by God over and over again to help someone else listen to his or her inner voice. The fear comes from not believing you can do it but when you just get passed the fear and realize you can. You will make it happen.

How to know when it's time to follow your heart?

When all you can do is fantasize about how you want your life to be, then it's time to develop a plan and make it happen.

When the dreams you had as a child is the same dream and aspirations you have as an adult.

When everyone says it won't work and how crazy you are for thinking it could happen, but deep down inside you know it will and you won't be satisfied or give up until you make it happen.

When the path you're on is making you miserable and you know there is something better for you to be doing.

When you constantly feel depressed.

When you can see yourself working hard because you know the reward will be worth it.

When you can see yourself becoming a workaholic because what you are doing won't feel like work.

When everything in life seems to be going against you . . . jobs, relationships, friends, and family. Life is happening to you and you feel victimized.

Taking the path that your heart is leading you on can feel like a big risk and sometimes won't make sense to you or the people around you. But what is there to really lose by not taking calculated risk that could eventually lead to happiness and greater fulfillment. Why are so many people going through life instead of creating the life they desire? This is a new era were living in where a lot of divinely guided spiritual leaders and philosophers are suggesting that all of the humanity is capable of being co-creators with God and how we are currently only using 10% of our brains. What percent are you? The percent that is creating the life they desire or the percent letting life happen to them? These are all questions to ask yourself.
