Locals may be surprised to learn that the Great Harvest Bread Company is actually part of a chain. There are very few Great Harvest Bread Company in California and none anywhere else in the Sacramento area. While Great Harvest Bread Company may be a chain each store operates fairly independently. There are some standard foods that they all make but each bakery can make its own goods as they see fit.
The Folsom Great Harvest Bread Company has been in business in Folsom for awhile but has recently been sold and is now under new management. Having been to Great Harvest Bread Company both under the old and now under the new management I can say that mush of what makes Great Harvest Bread Company such a good company will remain the same.
What makes Great Harvest Bread Company such a good company is not just the bread. The bread is in fact special high end bread but the service is also high end. The employees always are very nice and seem happy to be working there. The new management is also friendly.
Besides the service what makes someone want to come to Great Harvest Bread Company is of course the bread. The breads are all very good. The prices are higher then you would pay for a simple loaf of bread at the grocery store but these breads are much more then a standard bread. Great Harvest Bread Company is right next door to Trader Joes which is good for them because one of Great Harvest top selling points is that many of its bread are very healthy for you. People who are going to Trader Joes will also enjoy getting some healthy breads from Great Harvest.
There are some breads that are always made and then there are some breads that are made different days. You can always expect to find farmhouse white and honey whole wheat. Other choices include Cinnamon Raisin Walnut a sweet bread treat, Nine Grain a good healthy choice, and Spinach Feta which is great for sandwiches. While the price of the breads is more expensive you may be concerned about picking the wrong bread and spending the money for something you may not like, you need not worry they offer samples of all bread so you can know if you will like it before buying a whole loaf.
Right now with the new management the store will be making changes. Mostly these changes will be to add more products. The Great Harvest Bread Company locations are chain stores but each is run fairly independently and this gives them the opportunity to try many new foods on their own. I do not expect that any of the coming changes will hurt the store but only help it.
Overall the Great Harvest Bread Company is a great little store. It has great food and great charm. It may not be the place to go for all your bread needs but it is a good place to go to splurge on a delicious loaf of bread or other fine treat.
