There were many good albums that came out this year. One example was Lady Gaga's, "Born this way," album. There was an album that stood out from the rest. For many different reasons the album that blew me away was the Foo fighter, "Wasting light."
"Wasting light," is a lot heavier than their past album. In general, all the songs on this album are quite heavy. There are a lot of individual song that are much heavier, as well as having many screaming vocals. The Foo fighters do this very well, and lot of their past successes were heavier songs. For me, the heavier you can get it, bring it! This album goes together seamlessly. One can listen to this album from start to finish and not even realize the tracks were changing. It is not that all the song have the same sound, it is more that they complement each other in a way that creates an atmosphere of what a good rock record should sound like.
One fact that had took me aback, was that this album was recorded in Dave Grohl's garage. Do not get me wrong, I am sure that his garage is much nicer than most other people garage, but when it come down to it, the album was recorded in a garage. A lot of music now, in this generation is digital. This album was recorded with analog equipment. The sound on this record is amazing. That goes to show you how good analog is, and remains.
I have always been a fan of the Foo fighter and especially Dave Grohl. He was also the drummer for Nirvana which was another great band. After all the music that was created from this band, I have to say that this album was there best by far. I am not saying that there other albums weren't great or a not a success. I am saying that this album is amazing and there next may actually be even better due to the bands chemistry. My favorite tracks from this album are "Bridge Burning, Rope, Back and Forth," and White Limo". However, I suggest that you take the time and money to purchase the album and play it over and over. In addition, if you purchase the ITunes album, there are many bonus features that are worth having, such as: a live performance and the music video of "Rope"
I was expecting this album to be good, but it ended up being spectacular. I personally rate this album ten out of ten, and highly recommend this album to anyone who listens to the genre of rock or metal.
