The idea came to me one year while the family was having desert. I noticed my poor father, (who has diabetes) staring at us while we indulged in fudge, cookies and cake.It bothered me so much, that I decided to do something about it.
I found a website that had sugar free fudge in various flavors. So for Christmas that year I bought my father five pounds of fudge, in different flavors. He absolutely loved it. Everyone else in the family caught on with this idea, and now my father never has to suffer through watching us eat sweets ever again.
I have a sister that mentioned to me one year that she liked candles. I have sent them to her ever since. I could not in good conscience do that to her again last year. Even though candles are nice gifts, to receive anything more than three years in a row could get tedious. I decided on something sweet for her, to match her sweet personality. The jelly of the month club. They deliver a different, (and unique I might add) flavor to her every month, for a year. She has five grandchildren who she often babysat for. They look forward to the jelly arriving and it puts a whole new meaning behind "peanut butter and jelly sandwiches". Besides, who wouldn't enjoy a gift that keeps on giving?.
I have an uncle who moved far away from home a long time ago. He always mentions that he misses the food we grew up on. Especially from a town called Frankenmuth. It is a small German community in Michigan. They have many restaurants, and specialty food stores. One of the biggest attractions in the area is Zehnders Restaurant. As well as a huge dining room, they have specialty shops on the bottom floor and a cafeteria. It has a wide variety of baked goods, cheeses soups and jellies. Anything they serve can be ordered here. My uncle loves the baked goods. So I send him, a " taste from home" for Christmas.
One of my brothers always spends way too much money every year. I wanted to send him something this year that was a cut above an ordinary gift. I opted for Omaha steaks. I have received this gift myself and I must mention they were exceptional. He is a big steak eater and I know he will enjoy this gift.
Every year my husband's boss gives us such nice Christmas gifts. We usually are running around trying to keep up with buying things for the family. We rarely get him anything but a card. This year we went to Hickory Farms and ordered a huge basket filled with Sausages, cheeses and crackers. I also like the fact that it will be delivered right to his door, wrapped and ready. Plus if he wants to indulge a week before Christmas, he can.
So if I am ever having a difficult time choosing a gift for anyone, I can send them something they love to eat. It is truly a "can't miss" gift idea.

I always like getting food as a gift. One year my dad gave all of us children, steaks for xmas. I couldn't figure out why he had to go to the freezer to get our gifts! hehe.
