The Food & Wine Festival is hosted by and benefits the Food Bank for New York City and Share Our Strength. The event is directly centered within the infamous and fashionable Meatpacking District, offering visitors a peek at select landmark settings such as the DUMBO section of Brooklyn. The food festival with its packed line-up of events will no doubt effortlessly integrate its many faces into the fast-paced and colorful lifestyle of the city.
According to The New York City Experts the Meatpacking District owes its name to the meat distribution companies that once dominated the area. The area may not be the trendy hot spot as it once was, but it's still a scene with plenty of designer boutiques, history, velvet ropes, and celebrities dining in some of the city's smoking hot restaurants.
Wine Seminars will be featuring numerous demonstrations at the festival and will include everything from tasting and samples of various wines and cocktails to making your own wine and stocking your bar at home. Anyone dreaming of working directly in a Tuscan vineyard will benefit from My First Crush: The Secrets of a French wine-maker. Tickets for this particular event are $110.00 per person.
Food Demonstrations will be given day and night by star studded personalities from Ming Tsai, Alicia Silverstone and Martha Stewart to our Food Network favorites. Everything from "Kids get Cooking" to panel discussions and the art of recipes will be part of the food event. Of course no food festival would be complete without samples of crowd pleasing favorites being cooked up in a celebrity frying pan right in front of a hungry audience.
Cheese Tasting with Ted Allen will offer cheese lovers not only a chance to feast on their favorite food, but they will also get a glimpse into the art of making the food good enough to be eaten by the Gods. Each and every guest will receive an autographed copy of the Cheese Chronicles written by Liz Thorpe. Giada De Laurentiis and Italian food are synonymous, so maybe that is why she was the chosen one for the Meatball Madness Gala. Of course her stage presentation and natural beauty are only a small part of her attributes. Her knowledge of food gives any student the confidence that they to will be cooking top notch blue-ribbon meals in no time.
The Meatpacking Uncorked hosts promise to deliver electrifying street performances throughout the Meatpacking District while revelers offer visitors a unique district-wide wine tasting and food sampling party like no other. Toasting, tasting, savoring and shopping in the district will be infused with a flurry of activities, along with frequent sightings of your favorite Food Network personalities, performance artists, musicians, and other famous celebrities that frequent the area on a regular basis.
The Art of Party Food will be featured on October 8th, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and covers a broad range of activities fluctuating both craft and presentation of Hors d 'Oeuvres.
